This collection of rings is inspired by someone's favorite three things about Portland, Oregon: the abundant, delicious brunch opportunities, the ever-present mist and fog, and the abundant greenery and moss that blanket the generous outdoor spaces. The brunch ring is carved from a solid block of Himalayan salt. The moss rings are needle-felted from hand-dyed local wool. The mist/fog ring is created in sterling silver and glass, half of which has been frosted via sandblasting; the glass spins and pivots so that the wearer can peer through to see a low fog or heavenly mist imposed on their view. The display box is crafted from recycled fence slats and hardware, filled with local Stumptown whole coffee beans. The Amy Series activates the senses and pays homage to the wonderful city of Portland. This piece was part of the Body + Site, Location + Inspiration, Portland + Oregon series, shown as part of the 13 31 Exhibition, shown at the 10th & Hoyt Gallery and the Hoffman Gallery in Portland, Oregon, 2013.
